Sinful Brownies....

I can devour cakes and pastries at any time of the day and if it is chocolate, then it's all the more enjoyable. What more could you ask for than a rich, moist chocolate cake. I wanted to make a blondie but ran out of white chocolate, hence settled for this.

These sinful brownies were served at an informal gathering of about 10 men..all of them being A's schoolmates. They were meeting after a 20 years. They hadn't seen each other and it was nice to see them guessing the other. The brownies were served with coffee before they all set out together for a dinner together. Since I was obviously not joining them, I stayed back only to indulge myself in the leftovers...

What you need for the brownies are (Adapted from Joy of Baking)

500 grams bittersweet chocolate (chopped)

1 cup butter, cut into pieces

5 large eggs

2 cups granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups AP flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

Melt the chocolate and butter in a bowl placed over a pan of simmering water. Remove and set aside.

In another bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar. Add in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract.

In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt and then fold this into the chocolate and sugar mixture.

Pour this batter into a pan and bake until done. Let it cool and cut into pieces..

I sprinkled some castor sugar as well...

Well..that is done and Aparna and I have some Jamaican snacks. Visit our oven to see what is in store.

Our sidebar is updated as and when we bake something at our oven. Keep a lookout for that for more surprises. And if you are interested in baking with us, do leave a comment. We'll get back to you :)

  3. Brownies are my weak point... Slightly warmed with cold double vanilla ice cream topped with warm chocolate sauce and nuts and I am in heaven.
Been a looong time since I made any, brownies are not meant to be healthy, and is what is most enticing!
